AESOP GENEVA

2011 | GENEVA | SWITZERLAND

‘A custom-designed copper sink anchors the space, referencing the retro-futuristic elegance of the 1970s Citroën CX.’

In Geneva, a city defined by prestige, discretion and extraordinary engineering, this Aesop store draws on the cultural and material resonance of copper. Long associated with value, exchange and industry, copper was chosen as the primary interior material for both its symbolic weight and its architectural versatility, expressed through sheet, section, rod and wire.

A custom-designed copper sink anchors the space, referencing the retro-futuristic elegance of the 1970s Citroën CX. Angled and sculptural, it is seamlessly integrated into the consultation counter and demonstration area, where it becomes both functional element and focal point. Its warm lustre lends the interior a quiet sense of luxury while subtly evoking a nostalgia associated with the French Alps.

To complement this atmosphere, Alfredo Häberli’s iconic DS-480 lounge chair was selected and upholstered in rich tan leather. As a Swiss-designed piece, it brings both comfort and local relevance, inviting customers to pause and settle into the space. Subtle textural additions including cork, sisal and timber temper the sheen of the copper, enriching the sensory experience and adding softness, warmth and depth.
