ABOUT

Dear client, collaborator, or curious observer,

Welcome to March Studio.

Most architectural statements are either dull or dishonest. Usually both. This is an attempt to be neither. We could tell you we are design leaders, problem solvers, innovators. That we deliver intelligent, efficient, sustainable outcomes every time. The truth is more complex. Every project is a negotiation between budget, regulation, ambition and expectation. Success depends as much on the client’s engagement with the process as it does on anything we produce.

What we actually do is this:

March Studio designs systems that produce space.

We work with organisations, individuals and communities to develop spatial frameworks that can be deployed, adapted and repeated. Architecture becomes less about singular objects and more about the logic that generates them.

All projects are systems responding to an identity; personal, collective or organisational.

A house is a system shaped by a way of living. A workplace is a system shaped by how people gather and operate. A civic or community building is a system shaped by shared culture and use. Each project is a response to identity, translated into space through a set of rules, constraints and relationships.

In this sense, we are not simply designing and delivering buildings.

We are designing how buildings happen; repeatedly, coherently, and across contexts.

The outcome might be a single project, but the thinking behind it is always transferable. Systems are tested, refined and iterated. Each project is a version, not a one-off.

We work at the scale of networks, not just sites. This requires a different kind of engagement. The best work emerges when the brief is allowed to evolve, when assumptions are challenged and ideas are pushed beyond the obvious.

Sustainability is not something we apply to projects. It is embedded in the system itself—how something is made, how it performs, how it adapts, and how it can be reused or dismantled. Too often the term is reduced to a sales device, used by architects and developers as a layer of reassurance rather than a genuine commitment. We are not interested in that. We are interested in longevity. A building’s future life matters as much as its first.

We are not interested in spectacle for its own sake. We are interested in systems that embed into daily life—into routines, habits and use. Sometimes that produces something quiet. Sometimes it doesn’t. Either way, it is intentional.

We prototype, test and build, often literally. Since 2007, we have completed over 100 projects, large and small. Each one feeds back into the system.

If this resonates, we should talk.

If not, that’s fine too.

Either way, thanks for reading.
